Robert G. Urban

Robert leads Johnson & Johnson’s Boston Innovation Center. Johnson & Johnson Innovation Centers are home to investment teams that work closely with entrepreneurs to advance products and technology up to proof-of-concept across the pharmaceuticals, medical device & diagnostic and consumer sectors. Their investments focus on people and programs that have the potential to not just advance healthcare, but to transform it. Located in Boston, Menlo Park, London and Shanghai, the J&J Innovation Centers seek to simplify and expedite the transformation of discoveries into healthcare products that improve lives across the world.

Prior to J&J, Robert was the founding Executive Director of MIT’s Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. Robert has co-founded multiple biopharmaceutical companies, held a variety of R&D leadership/operational roles and served as an advisor or board member in the industry. Robert received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology and his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Texas system and was an Irvington Fellow in structural immunology at Harvard University.
